The National Inclusive Education Strategy and Action Plan of Georgia
Save the Children led the advocacy efforts to initiate the new Inclusive Education Strategy and relevant Action Plan for years 2019-2022. As a result, a formal Memorandum of Understanding was signed with the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia and the SC started provision of the technical assistance to the government in the drafting process. To ensure involvement of all stakeholders in the elaboration of the strategy, thematic working group was established with the participation of inclusive education experts, children with special educational needs (SEN) and parents of children with SEN, government and civil sector representatives. Round table meetings led by Save the Children were held on a regular basis as well.
On July 6, 2018 the Ministry of Education and Science launched public hearings of Inclusive Education Strategy and Action Plan 2019-2022.
